• Plymouth Yarn Baby Alpaca DK light (DK) weight alpaca yarn (1 3/4 oz/125 yds/50g per ball): 3 balls #4818 magenta
• Size I/9/5.5mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
• Tapestry needle
• Stitch marker

4 dc = 1 inch; 6 dc rows = 4 inches

Take time to check gauge.

FIRST STRIP

Foundation ch: Ch 10.

Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook and in next ch, ch 1, sk next ch, dc in each of last 2 chs, ch 5, turn. (4 dc, 1 ch-1 sp, 1 ch-5 lp)

Row 2: Sk ch-5 lp, dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, dc in each of last 2 dc, ch 5, turn. (4 dc, 1 ch-1 sp, 1 ch-5 lp)

Rows 3-91: Rep row 2.

ARCH

Row 92: Sk ch-5 lp, dc in each of next 2 sts, ch 1, sk next ch-1 sp, sc in each of last 2 dc, ch 1, turn (do not ch 5).

Row 93: Sk ch-1 sp, sc in each of next 2 sts, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, dc in each of last 2 sts, ch 5, turn.

Rows 94-103: [Rep rows 92 and 93 alternately] 5 times.

Row 104: Sk ch-5 lp, dc in next 2 sts, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, dc in each of next 2 sts, ch 2, sl st in next unused ch-5 lp, ch 2, turn.

Note: Place marker in ch-5 lp of row 193.

Rows 198-207: [Rep rows 196 and 197 alternately] 5 times. At end of last row, do not ch 5.

Fasten off, leaving an 8-inch end. Matching sts of row 207 and row 1, whipstitch ends tog using tapestry needle and long end.

2ND STRIP

Foundation ch: Ch 10.

Row 1: Dc in 6th ch from hook and in next ch, ch 1, sk 1 ch, dc in each of last 2 chs, ch 2, sl st in marked ch-5 lp of row 193, ch 2, turn. (4 dc, 1 ch-1 sp, 1 join)

Row 2: Sk ch-2 sp, dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, dc in each of last 2 dc, ch 5, turn.

Row 3: Sk ch-5 lp, dc in each of next 2 dc, ch 1, sk ch-1 sp, dc in each of last 2 dc, ch 2, sl st in next unused ch-5 lp, ch 2, turn.
